How Junk Food Can Cause Erectile Dysfunction

I stumbled upon a very interesting question while checking my inbox this morning and I’m sure you’ll find it quite engaging as well when you follow along…

Craig asks if his habit of munching on junk foods can have an effect on his sexual performance. He shares that he is fond of snacking on potato chips and pork rinds when he’s watching his favorite shows or games on TV.

Well, if you’re a guy reading this, there is a big chance that you’re fond of a few junk foods yourself. And there’s nothing wrong with having a bite of chips, fries or pork rinds, too, if you’re only eating them from time to time.

However, you will be in for some problems in the bedroom sooner or later if you load up on them in a regular basis. Let me explain what I mean…

See, achieving a strong erection when things get hot in bed is triggered by a process that starts as soon as the brain detects that you and your lover are getting frisky between the sheets. This process is purely involuntary, meaning your body is the one overseeing the whole thing and you won’t have the slightest clue it’s already taking place.

One of the key results of this process is a sudden spike in the flow of blood directed to the pelvic region. Most of this blood flow is sent to the erectile tissues in the penis. They firm up as soon as these spongy tissues absorb all the blood they need, which leads to an erection.

Interestingly, this is what happens ideally though if things go as they’re supposed to. However, this process gets disrupted if you have junk foods as mainstays in your regular diet.

As it turns out, most commercial potato chips and other munchies you can easily get your hands on when you drop by the local grocery are packed with ingredients that can greatly affect your blood flow sooner or later.

Besides having too much amounts of salt in them that causes hypertension, they can be also loaded with preservatives that can set off similar effects to the flow of blood in your body. And when this happens, chances are your ability to get rock hard on demand can be compromised the least you expect it.

(Not giving your oral health the attention that it deserves can make you prone to erectile dysfunction, too.)

I am not saying that you should totally do away with your favorite junk foods for good. I’m simply emphasizing that overindulging in them can prevent you from rising up to the occasion in the long run, so better keep an eye on how much you’re eating.
