Now while I don’t mean to scare you, there is one simple habit that you may be doing frequently that can easily affect your erections in a major way.

And this habit is smoking in a regular basis.

I know this might sound a bit odd, but you’ll soon find out why making it a habit to light up a cigarette every day can hurt your ability to get it up in the bedroom.

However, before we discuss the bad effects of smoking to your erections, let me give you a quick rundown first on what happens inside a man’s body during sexual arousal to help you understand the whole thing better…

When you and your lover get frisky in bed, the brain instantly goes into overdrive. Besides releasing hormones that induce significant changes in the body to prepare it for lovemaking, it also stimulates organs to work harder to get the system prepped up.

Examples of these hormonal changes include an increased sensitivity of the skin, particularly in and around the genitals, as well as a strengthened blood flow to the erectile tissues of the penis. These tissues will absorb the blood to make the penis firm up and keep it that way until orgasm to make sex successful.

The only problem is that the erectile tissues of the penis won’t be able to do their jobs properly if the veins and arteries directing the blood to them are not up to par as well. Unless they give the tissues the sufficient amount of blood they need, chances are you will stay limp.

And here’s where smoking gets into the picture…

See, the mostly harmful chemicals found in cigarettes generate a rather negative effect when they are metabolized in the bloodstream.

They irritate the veins and arteries and force them to harden and lose their natural elasticity. This condition is called “vasoconstriction.” Aside from putting you at risk of hypertension, stroke and other serious health problems in the future, this also hampers the blood to reach the erectile tissues on time during sexual arousal.

This simply means you won’t be able to get a stable erection no matter how hard you try. And you can just imagine the disappointment it will bring to you and your lover the next time things get hot in the bedroom.

Although there is scientific proof that drinking your favorite beer or brew moderately can actually help make your erections stronger, smoking doesn’t have any health benefits whatsoever and can even ruin your future lovemaking sessions if you don’t ease up on the habit.
