Why Eating Oysters Can Improve Your Sex Drive

Oysters are known as one of the most popular food items to go for if you’d like to naturally spike up your sex drive. Now while they may be the top choice when it comes to increasing libido, a lot of guys are still in the dark how these mollusks can help improve a man’s sex life.

At its simplest, oysters are basically bivalve mollusks. This means that they have a shell composed of two parts that open and close. They are distant cousins to other tasty seafood treats, namely mussels and scallops. These creatures can live in the bottom of the ocean or in shallows beds located in river estuaries.

Depending on where they live and the season, oysters can easily grow up to 12 inches long. They usually reproduce from May to August and can have cupped or rounded shells that can vary from white to red. There are even varieties that have purple shells.

People have been using them for food and as aphrodisiacs for a very long time now. There are even archaeological digs that show ancient cultures propagated oysters for more than 2,000 years.

OK, with the background covered, now let’s get to the good stuff.

Apart from having an exquisitely fresh taste when eaten raw or combined with almost any condiment, oysters are also loaded with essential nutrients that mainly help boost sex drive in men. These nutrients include phosphorous, magnesium, vitamin D, copper, manganese, iron, selenium, vitamin B12 and protein.

And just to save the best for last, oysters contain one of the highest levels of zinc found in nature. For starters, zinc is an important cellular component. Besides helping them develop and reproduce, this antioxidant also assists in rejuvenating and repairing damaged cells.

Interestingly, zinc also keeps tissues as healthy as possible.

And the penis is basically made up of a network of erectile tissues that firm up when blood is channelled into them. Without zinc, these erectile tissues can either have a tough time functioning properly or can’t fully repair themselves.

Meaning, that lack of zinc could eventually prevent you from “rising up to the occasion” when things get hot in the bedroom.

A word of caution though. Before you start loading up on oysters, there are a couple of tips that you should keep in mind.

First, you should make sure to know where they came from before enjoying one to avoid stomach cramps and other negative health effects. Second, you should not eat a lot of them if you’re trying to keep your blood pressure or sodium levels down.

With that caveat in mind, make sure you integrate oysters in your diet (moderately if you have health issues) to keep on rocking in the bedroom. And here’s why drinking too much soda can lead to erectile dysfunction.
